OT Assessment and Planning

Assessments

We use assessments to decode difficulties and to help identify why a child may be having these difficulties. We use both standardised and observational assessments and often complete these in a variety of locations including home and school. For example, if a child is struggling to complete work in the classroom, we will assess areas such as sensory processing, executive functioning and motor skills, whilst also assessing the classroom environment, to determine which areas are impacting their ability to complete their work.

Planning

Using our assessment findings, we develop individualised plans for all of our clients. These plans include the goals we are working towards and what we will focus on to achieve them. We work towards these goals in our OT sessions and provide training and support to parents, teachers and other team members to continue working towards the plans outside of OT sessions. We also have a dedicated and creative team of therapy assistants who can help families with completing activities in their OT plan.
